During World War II the Dutch military ship Abraham Crijnssen was trapped behind Japanese lines near Java and needed to withdraw to Australia. Its crew covered the deck of the ship with jungle foliage and traveled only at night, evading Japanese patrols by disguising the vessel as an island.
