In 1931 the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America banned the appearance of cow udders in cartoons. The rule was spurred on by a Mickey Mouse cartoon that featured unnatural udder movements, reportedly causing viewers to become “shocked” and “convulsed.” (Animated udders returned 10 years later.)
