Sudan is situated in northeastern Africa and is bordered by Egypt to the north, the Red Sea, Eritrea, and Ethiopia to the east, South Sudan to the south, the Central African Republic and Chad to the west, and Libya to the northwest. Sudan’s capital, Khartoum, lies in the center of the country, at the convergence of the Blue Nile and White Nile rivers.
