The United States has hosted the Olympics on eight occasions, a record. It has hosted the Summer Olympics four times: St. Louis in 1904, Los Angeles in 1932 and again in 1984, and Atlanta, Georgia, in 1996. It has hosted the Winter Olympics four times: Lake Placid, New York, in 1932, Squaw Valley (now Olympic Valley) in 1960, Lake Placid again in 1980, and Salt Lake City, Utah, in 2002. The U.S. is also set to host the Summer Games in Los Angeles in 2028 and the Winter Games in Salt Lake City in 2034.
