Hussein Al Sheikh served as a translator and liaison between the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Israeli officials in the 1990s and then became secretary-general of Fatah in the West Bank (2002–03). He later headed the General Authority of Civil Affairs (2007–25), coordinating civilian matters in the West Bank with Israeli officials. In 2025 he was made vice president of the PA.
