Nostra aetate means “In Our Time” or “In Our Age” in Latin. Also titled “Declaration on the Relation of the Church to Non-Christian Religions,” it is a landmark Roman Catholic document that recognized the legitimacy of Judaism and Islam and was promulgated in 1965 by Pope Paul VI during the Second Vatican Council (commonly called Vatican II).
