The Roman Catholic declaration Nostra aetate (Latin: “In Our Time”) regards Muslims with esteem, highlighting Islam’s common points with Christianity, such as the worship of one God, and it calls for Christians and Muslims to work together for social justice and moral values. Nostra aetate is also titled “Declaration on the Relation of the Church to Non-Christian Religions” and was promulgated in 1965 by Pope Paul VI during the Second Vatican Council (commonly called Vatican II).
