“Stand by Your Man” (1968) is Tammy Wynette’s most famous song. It was controversial because some critics considered its lyrics to be anti-feminist. In 1992 the controversy was renewed when Hillary Clinton referenced both the song and Wynette negatively in an interview with 60 Minutes during the presidential campaign of her husband, Bill Clinton.
