During Simchat Torah synagogue services involve holding the Torah scrolls and marching and dancing seven circles around the bimah (the central reading platform in the synagogue). Every congregation member is usually given an aliyah (call to the bimah) to read from or bless the Torah. The end of Deuteronomy is read, followed shortly thereafter by beginning again at Genesis 1.
