The rivers and streams of eastern Turkey are witness to a spectacular annual event. The inci kefali, or pearl mullet, are gathering for an impressive migration effort. But their presence doesn’t go unnoticed. Hunters are determined to make the most of this food bonanza. In their millions, the mullet battle the fierce currents to lay their eggs in clear waters upstream. Despite the abundance of fish, the gulls squabble over every catch. They know this food bonanza will be short-lived. Before long, the fish will have reached their destination.
