Guru Nanak disappeared for three days because he was undergoing a profound spiritual experience. While bathing in a river at about 30 years of age, he is believed to have communed with the supreme being. During this mystical encounter, he was given the nectar of immortality (amrit) and blessed with the knowledge of the divine name. The divine voice anointed him as a Guru and entrusted him with the mission of spreading the message of God’s oneness.
