Replacement theology can be discerned in works of early Christian writers such as St. John Chrysostom, St. Justin Martyr, St. Melito of Sardis, and Tertullian, as well as in the Letter of Barnabas. In later centuries supersessionism is evident in writings by St. Thomas Aquinas, Martin Luther, and John Calvin.
