Hurricane Dorian first made landfall as a hurricane at St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, on August 27, 2019, and swept through the northern Bahamas, causing widespread destruction. It also affected areas of the southeastern United States, reaching category 3 status off the coast of Georgia and South Carolina by September 5, 2019. The storm’s remnants eventually reached Nova Scotia, Canada.
