The Alaska summit held at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage on August 15, 2025) was significant as it was the first face-to-face meeting between U.S. Pres. Donald Trump and Russian Pres. Vladimir Putin since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. It was also Trump’s first meeting with Putin during his second term as president, and one in which Trump aimed to broker a deal to end the conflict.
