According to ancient tradition, particularly in Eastern Orthodox Christianity, the miracle most associated with St. Simon the Apostle is Jesus’ miracle at the wedding at Cana, where he turned water into wine. This extraordinary event, which took place at Simon’s own wedding feast, sparked a fiery and intense zeal for the Gospel in the bridegroom’s heart, causing him to leave his home and bride to follow Christ as one of the Twelve Apostles, known as “Simon the Zealot.” In other accounts Simon was the wine steward at the wedding.
