The year 1992 was the last time the Summer and Winter Olympic Games were held in the same year. Thereafter, the different editions of the Olympic Games were staggered every two years. The subsequent Winter Olympics were held in 1994 in Lillehammer, Norway, and the next Summer Olympics took place in 1996 in Atlanta, Georgia.
