Jazz was book Henri Matisse published in 1947 that consisted of his reflections on art and life and that included brilliantly colored illustrations. The art was made by a technique he called “drawing with scissors”: the motifs were pasted together after being cut out of sheets of colored paper (hand-painted with gouache in order to get the desired hue).
