American bandleader, musician, and songwriter Johnny Otis claimed co-writing credits with Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller for the song “Hound Dog.” After Elvis Presley’s version of the song became a hit in 1956, Otis sued Elvis Presley Music, Inc., a corporation set up by Presley and his manager, Colonel Tom Parker, for royalties, but the court denied his claim.
