An autonomous vehicle uses driver assistance technologies to remove the need for a human operator. Such technologies include GPS, cameras, radar, and lidar. Autonomous vehicles may also use artificial intelligence technology to “learn” their environment over time. There are five stages of vehicle automation, which range from fully unassisted driving to fully autonomous driving.
