St. Clement I was the fourth pope and the first Apostolic Father, a title given to early Greek Christian writers whose works are the principal source for information about Christianity during the two or three generations following the Apostles. He is the purported author of the Letter to the Church of Corinth, or the First Letter of Clement, which is one of the most important 1st-century Christian documents.
