Before becoming a successful solo pop singer, Phil Collins was a part of the Cliff Charles Blues Band, the Charge, the Freehold, Zox, the Radar Boys, and Flaming Youth. In the 1970s he was a drummer and, later, lead singer of the progressive rock band Genesis. He also belonged to the jazz fusion band Brand X.
