The three steps in the canonization process involve examining a candidate’s life for evidence of holiness (i.e., declaring the person “Venerable”), verifying a miracle that has been attributed to the person’s intercession (i.e., beatification, or declaring the person “Blessed”), and finally canonization, which requires at least one more verified miracle and culminates in the candidate being declared a “Saint.”
