Although Mansfield Park is not a true story, many have found parallels with Jane Austen’s life and parts of the plot. For example, some say that Fanny Price is based on Austen’s brother Edward, who was adopted by their relatives and sent to live away from the family. Even Mary Crawford is thought to resemble Austen’s cousin Eliza de Feuillide.
