Jimmer Fredette was an outstanding college basketball player at Brigham Young University (BYU), in Provo, Utah. During his senior year (2010–11) Fredette led U.S. college basketball with a 28.9-point scoring average while shooting nearly 40 percent from three-point range. Moreover, Fredette scored 52 points in one game and finished the season with more than 30 points in nearly half of his games. He led BYU to the “Sweet Sixteen” of the NCAA tournament, but the Cougars lost in overtime. Nevertheless, Fredette racked up a host of awards for player of the year, including the Wooden Award and the Naismith Award.
