Ötzi died of blood loss after being shot with an arrow in his left shoulder. While researchers initially thought that he had died of exhaustion or exposure during his trek across the Alps, later studies found evidence of the violent nature of the individual’s demise. In addition to the arrow in his left shoulder, Ötzi had a stab wound on his right hand.
