The Bay of Pigs invasion was a botched attempt by the U.S. to overthrow Fidel Castro in Cuba. It failed, in part because supporting air cover from Nicaragua arrived an hour later than scheduled. This lateness is thought to be the result of Nicaragua and Cuba being in different time zones.
