Olivia Button is the Digital Media Manager at Encyclopædia Britannica. She manages Britannica’s database that holds all the digital assets for media, along with data analytics and metadata. She works to ensure that digital assets are functioning correctly. She contributes to copyright and licensing questions and research of photograph assets, primarily.
Since joining the team in 2023, Olivia created and manages a Britannica archival digitalization project of Keystone photographs, many of which are not found in any other institutions.
Prior to joining Britannica, Olivia worked as a digital archivist and librarian in special collections and archives in museums and libraries. She managed institutional digitization collection projects while establishing cataloging best practices, classification standards, and controlled vocabularies for records.

My favorite part of working at Britannica is that I combine my favorite things to work on: digital asset management and archives. I love having a front-row seat to all the creative projects the media team creates, while simultaneously learning new things about the world.
